The fourth benefit of relaying your
faith is the wisdom you will acquire and the significant changes you will cause
in this world. Concerning this truth, the Bible states, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that wins
souls is wise" (Proverbs 11:30, NKJV). Fruit is that which comes forth
out of your life. Jesus taught that the kind of fruit will be known. He said, "Every tree will be known by its
fruit" Matthew 7:20. When you share your faith, you are demonstrating
that you are a tree of life. You are bringing hope and the message of eternal
life to a world that is hopeless and dark.
The fruit of evangelism is a major
player in the solution to the moral and social breakdown of society. Laws do
not stop political corruption or immoral behavior. Corruption is found even in
the highest levels of our government. The breakdown of the family and
unfaithfulness in marriage continues at an alarming rate. The best students are
found cheating on exams. There are many symptoms of moral and social ruin around
us such as athletic scandals, the crime rate goes up as the age of criminals
goes down, gambling and gambling addiction, drug addiction, pornography, and
child abuse to name a few. What is even worse is that these things have ceased
to shock us.
The Christian faith is the only
deterrent to these evils. It is the only true and lasting answer. Chuck Colson
of Prison Fellowship sees crime ultimately being a moral problem and the only
solution is moral reformation. But how is moral reformation to be accomplished?
It only changes when lives are changed with the gospel. The gospel can only
change lives when it is lived in a life "the fruit of the righteous"
and when the message of Christ is shared "winning souls." Make a
commitment today to be a sharing believe. Why not ask the Lord Jesus today to
give you an opportunity to be a tree of life to someone this week?
